Reading FII

The goal of level FII is for students to unravel a text by breaking it down for an accurate understanding of all textual information and to condense a text by identifying the topic and its conclusion.

● Level FII Goals:

  • Ability to break down the meaning of passages in fictional works

  • Recounting story events from a passage

  • Develop their ability to condense information for a deeper comprehension of the text

  • Transition to greater independence and freedom in their responses

  • Think logically and analytically about the passages they have read and the questions they are answering

● Good Work Skills in this level include:

  • Reading directions and examples carefully

  • Reading passages for comprehension

  • Being able to remember and completely write the correct answer or sentence

  • Thinking critically and answering independently

  • Using capitalization and punctuation in sentences

  • Ability to correct independently (don’t forget to grade every day!)

● Time Goal:

  • 3-5 minutes per page

  • The study time goal is 20-30 minutes per day

  • Your Instructor will continually adjust the pages to adhere to this goal

● Grading Reminders:

  • Students must be able to learn from their mistakes daily

  • Take the time to grade and let them find and correct their own errors independently

  • Students can use what they have learned and apply it to the next day’s assignment allowing them to move smoothly and independently through the assignments

  • Do not count off for minor mistakes

  • Remember, these answers DO NOT have to be word for word based on the gradebook answers
